I made the cookies using shortening and margarine and butter. Because I was filling the cookies with caramel, I used shortening as it has a higher melting point so I thought it would hold the caramel better. Cookies were good, however…. RE-made with butter and they are much better (because I love butter.) Use whichever suits you! I’ve tweaked the recipe… this is the best version yet. Continue reading
So I decided to make some cookies. For some reason I became somewhat obsessed with putting caramel into cookies and wanted to try some stuff… and… ended up making a boatload of cookies.
These ones are chocolate chocolate chip with caramel inside and sea salt. I made these using “golden shortening”… in the States they call it butter flavoured, but in Canada you can’t say that. Blah blah blah. Continue reading
For some reason I became weirdly obsessed with making a cookie with salted caramel in it. I looked around for some recipes and most of them used store bought caramels. Which I do love… however… Just always think homemade is tastier.
